By signing below, I am voicing my support for balanced reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), changes to which are currently being considered by the U.S. Congress. To help promote increased public safety in [STATE], as well as innovation and economic growth, any TSCA reform should:
- Modernize our chemical safety laws to take advantage of chemical safety assessment advances achieved since TSCA was first passed 30 years ago;
- Ensure public safety and the health of the environment by giving testing priority to the chemicals that pose the most potential safety risk to consumers;
- Give the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the power and resources to adequately administer and enforce the new regulatory system;
- Make certain these new laws keep the chemical industry’s economic value in mind, protecting jobs and promoting U.S. innovation of “green” chemicals.
Uniform federal chemical safety standards will make sure all are protected by the same high standards and will free businesses from the costs of doing business in states with differing and/or conflicting laws.
